Does anybody have recent info on BPA?

By pregnantnews

i had gotten the Avent bottles and vapor sterilizer for my first baby… we didn’t end up using them much cause she ended up not taking bottles at all… and by the time she did accept them, we had changed bottles…
now, my second is 2mo and i’m trying to get her used to bottles… because of all the BPA discussion, i went to Toys R Us to choose bottles… the lady assured me that i could still use my avent bottles and sterilize them in the sterilizer, she said that all the big companies including Avent have recently done a research on their bottles and have come to the conlusion that using the Avent bottles and sterilizing them will cause NO harm whatsoever.
i live in France and was just wondering what the lastest news was in the USA regarding BPA in baby bottles… would you use Avent bottles and sterilize them?

thanks a lot in advance :)

I’m not using them, just to be safe. I’m using Avent magic sippy cups because they can use the Avent nipples.

the plastics here (Canada) are numbered for recycling purposes. numbers 1, 2, 4 & 5 are safe for food and drink. The Avent bottles I have do not have a number on them and so I dont use them anymore. This could be because they dont want people to know what number they are, or because they are not meant to be recycled, but instead re-used. Avent claims that all of their products are BPA free… I dont know why they arent marketed that way though. I do use Avent Magic sippy cups that are advertised as BPA free on the packaging. I still havent taken my Avent bottles out for use because when I was using them they leaked all the time and really aggrivated me.

this site is worth taking a look at to review the negative effects of BPA.
