heating milk with a bottle warmer..BPA bottles?

By pregnantnews

i use avent bottles and have only recently heard about the dangers of BPA leaking into milk due to heating of the bottle in the microwave..and putting boiling water in them.. but does using a bottle warmer create the same risks? if i had known before i brought these bottles i would never be using them..i have a 4 week old daughter and i dont want her getting sick

I used Avent with both my girls, and they are healthy and happy. I never actually went to the trouble of boiling water or putting them in the micro. After talking to my doctor, and discovering that tap water in our area was completely safe, I just used warm water from the tap. Saved me a crapload of time! Still test it on your wrist to make sure it’s safe to serve. And then you avoid all the BPA yuckiness. I am pregnant again, this time I will be switching bottles, not because of BPA, but because both my kids spit up like no tomorrow, I now realize, it was the bottle, not the formula. Good luck!

I use Avent also… the whole BPA thing sucks. One minute people are saying its nothing to worry about, the next it is. I tried switching bottles, to a different brand and my son wouldn’t take any other kind. Plus, I really liked the Avent. They have BPA free Avent bottles out now, I ended up just buying those ones to be safe. I called the 800 number on the box and asked about BPA. She said its only a concern in Extreme temps.. so Im not sure about the warmer thing, but my guess is that your ok. Your not heating it was hot in that thing. But, you could always call the number and ask them. You could probably find a number on the website also. And, if your worried about it still, you could heat the water in something else, either glass, or what I did until I found BPA free Avent, I bought some really cheap bottles that are BPA free and heated the water in those ones and then dumped the water in the Avent bottles. What a pain huh…
