What do you all think about the controversy over the BPA chemical found in infant bottles?
ByAre you continuing to use the same bottles? I heard if you heat the bottles in warm/hot tap water that the chemical is not released; not to use old plastic bottles. Nothing is safe anymore. Does anyone know about this chemical?

I think the controversy is overstated. BPA releases at temps over 175 F and at more than 10 years old. People just don’t want to change from the convenience of popping a bottle into the microwave (despite peds recommending otherwise for YEARS).

Well, I was using the ventaire now people say to trash it.. I went out bought soothie and now i hear they are bad. So what i am going to do is invest in some glass bottles. I really don’t know what else to do I thought well it cant be that bad b/c they are still selling the bottles, but then people are like why do you want to risk it. So I do have plastics and i’ll get glass.. so i might just alternate leave the glass for home and plastic on the go. go to fda.com or CDC.gov i hear those sites tell you a lot about the BPA.

I am glad that I decided to use the old fashioned glass bottles with my son, and I think I will do the same when it comes time to introduce bottles to the one I am expecting in October. Nothing wrong with the old fashioned glass bottle although they are a little more expensive. As for the whole controversy surrounding the whole BPA chemical. It seems like daily they are finding something else we have been ingesting for years and say that its dangerous. Which makes me wonder if the media is just out there to scare us and bewilder us or what! Is it just another cow-tow by the media and the food and drug administration to introduce bottles that will cost even more, and what was the point of having the BPA in the bottles to begin with? This is just my opinion!

now I dont know what to do anymore. Born free bottles are expensive and they come with level 1 nipple. I want the package for level 2 but i guess they dont have it. I’m interest in bornfree bottles because they are bpa free but i’m not sure they polycarbonate free too? I got that ideas in mam’s bottles. Tell me more…

Just another reason I’m so glad I decided to breastfeed.

I think everything is a problem anymore according to the media. I just use the same bottles. I use either warm tap water or water out of our Sparkletts machine. I think that every single time something like this comes up people freak out because of the media. Just don’t put them in the microwave…that is all.
