As a midwife, I can offer the following advice:
- As long as you had no complications after your last delivery (infection, unusual bleeding, etc.), you can expect that your uterine scar healed naturally and strongly.
- The period of time between your ceserean and now is sufficient for your body to heal to a near pre-surgical state.
- Uterine scars are no more likely to burst than other scars. Has your external scar (under your belly button) show any signs of bursting. (Most likely not)
- Unfortunately, many doctors will encourage patients (consciously or not) to have cesereans. The convenience of scheduling for both doctor and patient, along with preparation for complications makes the ceserean delivery a popular choice. (And they make more money, too).

You need to weigh a number of things:
- Why did you have an emergency c-section before? Is it something that is likely to repeat itself?
- How important is it to you to have a natural delivery? Why is it important?

Either way, I wish you the best with your new baby. No matter how he/she is delivered, your bonding and parenting will be what matters in the end.

Good luck!

I had both my boys by c-section the first because I had no choice but to have a c-section. The second one the doctor gave me the option and I told him I'll have a c-section so we knew the date he was going to be taken from me. I never heard of your scar rupturing but if you are worried about it tell your doctor you want another c-section this way you'll know what day you're going in to have the baby without going into labor, plus you can make arrangements for someone to watch your daughter while you have the baby.

I've seen several shows where women have delivered vaginally after a C-section. The ones I saw were uneventful.

My cousin had a c-section and then opted for another one the 2nd time around as well and still ended up having a ruptured uterus !

It's just something you really need to talk with your doctor about.

Good Luck.

i don't know your personal history and perhaps your doctor is only explaining the possible risks. or you have other risk factors

think about it... if there were really that much of a risk wouldn't a child growing inside stretching it be more of a risk?

it is entirely possible to deliver vaginally after a c-section. i would get a second opinion.

My sister had her daughter by c-section and her son naturally. She did very well, and had no problems. Really in the end it is your choice which way to go. I wish you luck and congrats on the new addition!!

I had an emergency c-section with my son 2 years ago...his b-day is next Thurs, and I too am due in Dec. I am opting for another c-section because I don't want to take the risk of that happening and having to take longer to recover, especially since I have another child at home to take care of. I had a neighbor once too that had a VBAC and she said she wished that she had opted for another c-section because she was in much more pain than she was with the c-section.
