I am due this December and am having to decide whether to have a repeat c-section, or vbac.?

By pregnantnews

I have heard that repeat c sections can be dangerous, but then again, so can vbacs. How many of you out there have had repeat c sections? If you had to choose, which would you do? My doctor says both are dangerous, and it is entirely my decision and I do not know what to do. (This is my sixth baby, all but my last were natural, and the last was a c section due to breech position). Thanks.

i would do the VBAC since you only had to have a c section because it was breech. i know plenty of women who have had vbacs and they have been totally fine and werfe glad they chose to do so. you should be fine since you didn’t have to have a section dues to pelvis size or any other serious complication that may occur again, jsut as long as this baby is not breech either

I would ask your doctor to give you a more educated response. What type of incision did you have with your c-section. From what I hear that makes a BIG difference on the safety of a VBAC. While they carry a bit more risk perhaps, a good doctor should be able to confidently say one way or another which once would be best for YOU in your circumstances, barring any unforeseen complications of course. Even the BEST doctor cannot anticipate EVERYTHING that may or may not go wrong.

Perhaps explore a VBAC, with the exception that you are ready, willing and able *obviously* to opt for the c-section should circumstances dictate that either you or the baby aren’t tolerating the VBAC.

If this doctor cannot provide the answers you need I would seek a second opinion, just to make sure you and your new baby are getting the BEST medical care you can.

Good Luck *And may I give you my hats off….six babies and still going strong, I have a toddler and one on the way, and I feel drained, I don’t know how you do it. So KUDOS!!!* :P

i would go for a natural birth if you had all the other natural and the last one by c section then i would seriously go natural then if any complications arise then i would just deal with it at the time good luck with the birth

for you, I would definitely go vbac as long as you know that you have a transverse scar on the uterus. your doctor knows what this means
