My midwife is coming out tomorow to do a sweep,?

By pregnantnews

I have never had one before, but i am now 40&5 and my midwife wants to try and start me off. What can she do to me to help, and has this worked for anyone else?
Midwife has been and gone :( and couldn’t get to my cervix, she has showed my husband what to do wish us luck.

i had it with my third in december and it worked three days after ,it feels like a normal vaginal exam just a bit more firmer its uncomfortable they put to fingers in and do circular motions, but its worth it i had mine done at 38 weeks aswell , you know if its going to work because your show will come out bloody for 2 days and you will get cramps, i was a bit dissapointed at first because ther are alot of women it doesnt work and they say it was auwfull but i feel every examination down ther is auwfull lol but you will do anythimg to help start labour xx

she is going to seperate your membranes. The membranes hold your uterus in place and by sweeping it, it will make you go into labor faster since your overdue anyways. Its painless and usually the water breaks afterwards, I had this done at a hospital because of preclempsia. Goodluck.

The idea of a sweep is to actually irritate the cervix a little bit to force blood flow to that area this creates some muscular cramping and does often start labor within a day or so.
