What is the cost of a home pregnancy with midwife in Florida?

By pregnantnews

I am pregnant with our third child; this was very unexpected. I did not have the “maternity rider” turned on for my insurance and I do not qualify for Medicaid. I looked on line and found a midwife in the area who does home births and sounds intriguing. I just wanted to know if the savings is worth it or not. Any input welcome. Thanks

I’m not sure what homebirths cost in Florida as I do not live there, but you are practically guaranteed that there will be a substantial savings, not only in prenatal care and the birth, but since you will not be using epidurals and your chance of c-section is greatly reduced. Check out http://www.mana.org for more info on midwives; there may also be homebirth yahoo! groups in your area that you can search for that will be able to give you resources and info about your particular area. Good luck!
