What is the difference between going through a Midwife or a Doctor for my delivery?

By pregnantnews

My doctors office has the option of either a midwife or a doctor for delivery. I am not a high risk patient at all. I have been meeting with the midwives mostly. I asked and the both give pain meds and they both will do a c-section, which was my biggest concern.

I was wondering if anyone had personal experience with this.

A midwife is more personal.

I believe a doctor (in a hospital) would be safer. I wouldn’t be taking any chances with my child.
God forbid, if something happened, wouldn’t you rather be in a hospital with a “REAL” doctor?
