Would you have a doula at your birth?
ByI am training to be a birth doula, and I know I would have loved to have one at my births. I am just curious as to how other mothers and mothers to be feel about having a doula.

If I could have afforded it I’d have loved one! I would imagine your biggest market will be single mothers like myself. I did have a birth partner on the day, but I still felt lonely going through my pregnancy without support, and it was great having my friend with me, but I think a bit of additional support would have been nice. If you become self employed, it may be an idea for you to offer small discounts to single/low income mothers in an attempt to attract this portion of the market, as I would imagine many potential customers will be held back by the cost factor. Good luck!

If I could afford it I think it would as long as the father was interested too

No. I am shy and I would prefer to just do it on my own.

I’m meeting with a doula at the hospital I’m going to be delivering at. I really want to have one present at the birth. I’ve never had a baby before, but I know I tend to get really anxious about things and I think having one there would help relax me. Of course my fiance will be there, but he’ll probably be quite anxious himself, so a doula definitely seems to be a good idea for us.

I’m thinking about it… I still need to do some research on what a doula does, and find out if there are any in my city, but since this is my first pregnancy, I’m definitely considering it.

Yes I’d love a doula.
