If no nausea/morning sickness, can I get a positive pregnancy test?

By pregnantnews

I read that Nausea/Morning Sickness is caused by HCG. What happens if you are pregnant, but you dont have Nausea/Morning Sickness? Will I need a blood test to determine pregnancy?

As odd as this may sound, there are a LOT of women who never get morning sickness. Plus it mostly happens about 10 weeks into the pregnancy.

No, you can still take a normal HPT.
Not everyone has symptoms.

I didn’t get morning sickness until I was 7-8 weeks along.

You’ll still be producing the same level of HCG if you don’t have symptoms.

not everybody has morning sickness and you can still use the hpt just because you don’t have morning sickness doesn’t mean it will not work.good luck

No when i became pregnant I took a pregnancy test before the doctor could even tell i was pregnant ( by the cervix, also had an ultrasound ). And then I didn’t get morning sickness until a week or two later and it was horrible!!!!!! And also some women just don’t get morning sickness at all. They are the luck ones!
Good luck!!

Both the blood and urine tests detect hCG with the new sensitive urine tests the blood tests are only accurate about a day or two earlier. Which means if you have to wait a day for lab results it comes out to the same -which is why many doctors are using urine tests now.

Morning sickness is a *side effect* of hCG. Like any side effect not all people get it. Just like not all women get PMS. Many women never suffer morning sickness.

pregnancy symptoms can vary from each person. I didn’t have any nausea/morning sickness when i was pregnant. Hcg is the pregnancy hormone detected by the urine test. It already means that a sperm and egg united (conception = to me yes you are pregnant). You don’t need a blood test although on your first ob visit (around 7th week)they’ll take a blood test to determine the hcg level because even if you do have hcg in your blood/urine, it doesn’t mean the baby will form (blighted ovum) or you can have a miscarriage and still have hcg in your system. Hcg levels should double everyday. That’s why they take a blood test as a basis.
