False Positive? i just got my period.?

By pregnantnews

My last period started september 5th. i took three pregnancy tests on october 8th, two different brands.. all were positive. i’ve already told my mom (i’m 16 years old) and started taking prenatal vitamins and all that, and today i’m BLEEDING. and cramping. just a little bit. it only started maybe 30 minutes ago.. could this be implantation bleeding? i don’t think so, because i read that happens about 10 days after conception. why else might my period be a week late with three positive tests? i heard somewhere that urinary tract infections may give a false positive, is this true? ALSO, i went in for an ultrasound of my ovaries for a separate issue on october 1st, and the lady said that my uterine lining was thick, that i was about to start my period. how soon before my period would the lining be thick, if its nearly two weeks later that this “period” is showing up? sorry about all the questions.. i’m just a little upset. oh, and i’m scheduled for a blood test tomorrow to confirm the pregnancy.. should i just wait it out?
don’t early miscarriages hurt? im not really in pain at all.
if i am having a miscarriage and i took another pregnancy test right now, would it still be positive?

don’t stress :) if you are going to the doctor tomorrow then they will help you with everything. The blood test will be the answer

It’s possible to have late periods because of stress. If you still think your pregnant than still go to the doctor. But, out of the information you told me it looks like your not.

It is very rare to get a false positive test result, meaning you arent pregnant when the test says you are. 30% of women experience a period like bleeding during their pregnancies, although it is usually shorter and lighter. Also, cramping is very normal in prengancy too. so don’t be alarmed. as long as it is not heavy and you are not passing tissue (clots, and are chunky), accompanied with severe cramping. just make sure to mention this to your doctor on the next visit.

good luck!

You can still bleed if you’re pregnant. My mother had several “periods” with me, and knows people who had “regular periods” through all nine months of pregnancy. So bleeding isn’t necessarily abnormal. It isn’t a period, per se, but… It’s sort of like the “periods” you have on birth control. No egg, just blood.

That, or you could be having a miscarriage.

Wait for the blood test tomorrow- but I’m relatively certain that you ARE still pregnant.

Sorry hun, thats an early miscarriage.
They dont hurt when they are really early. U mentioned some cramping. Thats a miscarriage.

UTI do not cause false positives. The tests look for the pregnancy hormone, HCG, so u will only have that if you are pregnant.

Early miscarriages happen in atleast 1 of every 3 pregnancies. (Some reports say 1 out of every 2 pregancies because some miscarriages happen so early the mom never knew she was pregnant).

There is cramping during pregnancy, but when accompanied by red blood, it is not good

NO you cannot get positives that are wrong – if it says positive its 99.9% accurate-3 pos preg tests cannot be wrong ! it can only say positive if it picks up pregnancy hormone in your urine and can only do that if your are PREGNANT

either you have had an early miscarriage – which can jsut look like a period

or you are still pregnant and have some bleeding – this can happen sometimes

you need to go to your doctor and get checked out to see if it was miscarriage or if it is bleeding during pregnancy

the only reason people think they have a false positive is when they miscarry but think its jsut there period

best of luck x
