Positive home PG test: Negative Doctors Test on the Mirena?
ByI’ve been on the IUD for a year and just recently I’ve been feeling…a little weird. Boobs are sore, seems like smells are more pronounced, uterine cramping and moodiness. I took a home pregnancy test on Monday and it came out POSITIVE! I have never peed positive on one of these things so of course i was freaked. I followed the instructions and did this as soon as I woke up. Luckily I had my annual that day at 3 pm. I took their test and it came out negative. My nurse practitioner who was performing my annual stated that she didn’t want to perform a blood test or ultrasound (basing 100 percent off her test) and saying that if i was pregnant it would most likely be an ectopic pregnancy or the embryo had landed on the IUD and that the IUD and embryo would have to come out either way. She said that as long as I wasn’t having cramping I would be fine, when I told her I was she said that I was most likely ovulating. I know when I ovulate and it’s not now. Should I call and schedule a blood test? Or trust the doctors test? Help!

I’m not a doctor, but I do know that the urine tests in a doctor’s office are pretty much the same ones you take at home. Obviously it wasn’t your first morning urine. Get a blood test.

I would def schedule a blood test to make sure. Having an IUD does increase your chances of an ectopic pregnancy, but if that’s the case the pregnancy does need to be removed before it causes you serious harm. The chances of miscarriage with an IUD are high as well. If you are pregnant it has the potential to be very harmful to your body.

Go to a different doc get a blood test do an ultra sound this is not something to take lightly if u r prg they need to remove the iud (there is a chance of miscarriage )also make shure its not a tubal pregnancy I would be uncomfortable w/that doc Good Luck!
