cosleeping to the crib transition?

By pregnantnews

my five month old is a co-sleeper right in between mommy and daddy. well i love it because i feel closer to him. he has his own room but he wakes up in the middle of the night. his crib is in the corner of our room and if i lie in my bed and if i wanted to put my arm in his crib i could if the railing wasnt high thats just how close the bed and crib are. well the past week he wakes up at 2 a.m. and plays until around 5-6 a.m. can he be broke off this? and what is a good transition back to the crib because now he rolls and scoots and i dont want him to get hurt and he tries to sleep on his belly and in the crib he has triangles that attach to the sheet so he cant roll. should i start the crib for naps then to slowly move to the crib or?!?
i take sleeping medication because my happy pills are stimulants and i will be up all night.

I put my older daughter into her crib for naps and it was awful you just have to let them cry it out i know its hard i would sit on the other side of the door and cry for hours its ok to let them cry but you dont want to traumatize them so if they cry really hard go in offer them their paci if you use one pat their back and try to pat them to sleep if they are out of control crying walk out and give it a couple more minutes to see if they will self sooth if not pick them up and stand and rock them until they are content then lay them down and try again they will eventually fall asleep it takes 2 to 3 days of this but you will be thankful to lay how you want in bed and you will sleep alot better!

I co sleep with my 8 month old daughter, but I always start her in her cot, and she always naps in the cot during the day. When she wakes at night I put her in bed with me. My last 2 babies slept on their tummies, it made them sleep better.
So I suggest you start to always put him in the crib to start, but if he gets really upset, put him in with you. I am hoping eventually, with mine, she will just stop waking up during the night and sleep in her cot all night. She did used to sleep all night until she was 6 months old, then she started waking regularly, not sure why, I just feed her in the bed and go back to sleep.

And for anyone who says co sleeping is dangerous, it can be, but if you follow guidelines it can be completely safe. You can’t be a smoker, drinker or take any medications/drugs that may alter you, you can’t be overweight, they shouldn’t sleep next to anyone else if they are a heavy sleeper, and make sure there is a pillow or side rail on the bed.

Sleeping pills and co-sleeping are probably not the best combo. While I do love and enjoy co-sleeping I completely understand your need for space. My three year old would keep us up all night playing and cuddling and scooting under blankets to tickle our toes.

I did naps in his bed in his room since he was probably 5 months. Before that he was with us in a bassinett. I was very surprised how well he did. I literally sat up all night with my ear glued to his monitor waiting for him to scream out. Guess what? No scream. Not even a peep. In fact, it was the first time he slept through the night and we all got some sleep.

If it were my son I`d do naps in the crib. And, see how it goes. Once he gets used to that I`d do sleeping in the crib. I did it both ways for my oldest crib in his room and my youngest crib in my room. Doesn`t really matter eventually they will get used to it and you can relocate the crib. It just depends on what you want :) )
