My 4 1/2 month old won’t sleep in crib…?
ByHe slept in his crib since 8 weeks without a big problem. He got to be spoiled while traveling for the holidays and coslept with me. He now is refusing to sleep in his crib. He’s screaming bloody murder when I set him down. I tried to let him do a modified CIO where I rub his tummy and hum for him (which is how i put him to sleep before the cosleeping). I’ve tried nursing him to sleep and putting him down. Tried rocking him to sleep but as soon as i go to set him down (sometimes even walk near the crib) he starts screaming. Any advise?
i would cosleep if 2 in a full size bed wasn’t already pushing it.and daddy’s a roller (bed does fit well against the wall in our room)

I am a co-sleeper so you won’t like my advice – just co-sleep. It sure makes life easier at our house.
EDIT: I understand – we have a queen that can be a bit crowded at times. Good Luck with getting baby back on track.

Put him to sleep first then try to put him in his crib, also make it comfortable. Thats what I did with my son, he is now 17 months and sleeping in his crib fine. Hopefully your son willl get the hang of this. Hope everything works out !

I’d try a couple of things, if you can still swaddle him (maybe one of those wraps with the velcro would be strong enough if he’s a wiggly guy) try that or have him sleep in a pack-n-play bassinette attachment next to your bed (if you have or can borrow one) for a few days, doing his daytime naps in his room. The reduction of open space around phyiscally helps them feel more comfortable and sleep better. He’s not that old yet, so he can easily revert back to that comfort needing stage.

It’s not going to hurt the child to cry for a bit to go to sleep. At 4 1/2 months, you are safe to leave the baby crying. The sooner he learns to soothe and calm himself, the better off you’ll all be. This will set a precedent for the future, and as the baby gets older, you’ll be amazed at how easy bedtime is.

It’s no fun, but we just had to let my son cry. After that he was fine.

I have two daughters. I made them to sleep in crib. when they were 6 months and nine months i had your problem.(refusing to sleep in crib) so before sleep i used to wipe my baby’s body with warm wet cloth. Then put on night cloths. My daughters used to sleep till morning.

Make sure he is dry and fed and all is well with him and put him down at bed time. He will stop crying and fall asleep. If you rock him to sleep and then put him down its only pro-longing your problem. As you will have to get him out of the habit. Babies are clever and we are the parents. Nothing will happen to him. When he wakes from his sleep then love him more.
